Record Voice Memos and Create Transcripts
Record spoken entries on every supported device and create searchable transcripts on iPhone or iPad.
On this page
Premium voice capture is tailored to each device. iPhone and iPad can turn speech into editable text, playable audio, or both; Mac records an audio memo without transcription.
Record on iPhone or iPad
- Open a group and select the microphone in the composer, or choose Memo from Add attachment.
- Allow microphone and speech-recognition access if the system asks.
- Speak, then choose Done when you are finished or Cancel to discard the recording.
- In the post-recording review, play back the audio and choose Text only, Audio only, or Both before saving the note.
Work with transcripts on iPhone or iPad
When you keep text, the recognized words become the note body and can be edited and searched. When you keep only audio, Lognote can retain the live transcript with the attachment; the note body remains empty. An existing audio memo can also expose a Create Transcript action when recognition is available.
Record an audio memo on Mac
On Mac, choose the audio-memo action and finish the recording to save a playable audio attachment. The Mac recorder does not offer transcription, the Text only / Audio only / Both review, or hands-free live transcription.
Record on Apple Watch
Choose Voice Memo on the Watch, record, then choose Stop & Save. The audio enters the Watch delivery queue and becomes a note on the paired iPhone. A recording of at least five seconds is queued if you leave the recorder accidentally.
