Understand What Syncs Between Devices
See which library data Cloud Sync carries and which preferences or files stay local.
On this page
Full Premium Cloud Sync moves supported library records between devices signed in to the same account; it is not a byte-for-byte copy of the app container.
Data included in full sync
Supported groups, notes, Quick Notes, selected supported settings, audit entries, and geofences are part of the sync model. Supported settings include values such as sort order, the default group, Allow Empty Notes, and the second time zone. Note images and eligible attachments are transferred separately from their note records.
Shared-group content syncs for signed-in members even when their private library remains local under Free.
Data that remains local
Custom filters, the app theme, system notification permissions, local backup archives, and files over the 50 MB upload limit stay on the device. Only explicitly supported settings sync; other display, notification, and navigation behavior remains device-specific.
Apple Watch captures first travel through the paired iPhone. They are not an independent copy of the full Cloud Sync library.
